RESPONSIBILITIES
We need a fundraising consultant to seek out and gather voluntary financial contributions for our cause by engaging individuals, businesses, charitable foundations, and governmental agencies.
The fundraising consultant will be charged a commission for services based on a percentage of the total amount of money raised, and the commission rate will range from 10 per cent on amounts in excess of £100,000 to percentages as high as 40 per cent for amounts under £1,000.
As lucrative as this sounds, the candidate has to remember that the cost to establish, advertise, and manage the fundraising programme comes directly from the fees charged for providing the service.
SKILLS NEEDED
The fundraiser is expected to organise activities to raise funds or otherwise campaign and gather monetary donations or other gifts for the organisation. He/She may design and produce promotional materials. He/She may also raise awareness about the organisation’s work, goals, and financial needs. He/She will also identify and build relationships with potential donors.
Other tasks include……
Write and send letters of thanks to donors.
Secure commitments of participation or donations from individuals or corporate donors.
Develop fundraising activity plans that maximise participation or contributions and minimise costs.
Develop strategies to encourage new or increased contributions.
Create or update donor databases.
Direct or supervise fundraising staff, including volunteer staff members.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor’s degree is needed, along with strong communication and organisational skills. Also preferred are candidates who have studied public relations, journalism, communications, English-related or business-related subjects.
